Objenious and Voltalis put their technologies at the service of the security of electrical supply for the French and ecological transition

1 July 2024
Paris, July 5th, 2022 – Bouygues Telecom, through its Objenious brand dedicated to IoT, is partnering with Voltalis, the European leader in intelligent electrical consumption management for households, to accelerate the deployment of its solution, which will equip 200,000 households by next winter and help reduce electricity consumption peaks.

With the very high risk of electricity production shortage as early as next winter, the State, RTE and major energy companies are calling on French citizens to start saving energy now. Voltalis directly addresses this issue by providing individuals who use electric heating with a free device that enables them to save energy during the periods that are most beneficial to the electrical system, particularly during consumption peaks. This device is connected using Objenious SIM cards, making the user experience completely transparent.

This solution provides a triple benefit: it allows equipped individuals to control their electricity bills, contributes to the security of the French electrical system by providing more flexibility, and reduces CO2 emissions by reducing the use of coal, gas or oil-fired power plants.

This solution is also quick to deploy. To respond to the call to mobilize public authorities and help secure the electrical network, which will be under high tension in the upcoming winters due to current crises, Voltalis, with the support of Objenious, is accelerating the deployment of its solution, which can be adopted free of charge by the nine million French households using electric heating.

“We are very proud to have established this partnership and supported Voltalis from the outset. This collaboration allows us to participate in the challenges of intelligent energy consumption management. Voltalis perfectly embodies the future of IoT, which is becoming an optimization tool in the energy world, essential in the current context, particularly to support collective efforts in energy optimization,” explains Bernardo Cabrera, Director of the Objenious Business Unit.

IoT for Energy Savings

To connect its devices, Voltalis uses 4G and LTE-M networks. LTE-M, an extension of the 4G network, is a durable protocol characterized by low latency, increased security, and, above all, low energy consumption. Suited for low-bandwidth IoT applications, it allows connected objects to have a lifespan of around ten years, facilitating the maintenance and replacement of hardware. Objenious shared its expertise with Voltalis by offering its IoT networks and M2M SIM cards, soldered and activated as installations are made with users.

“As an IoT actor, Objenious aims to offer its clients services adapted to technological developments in the market,” says Bernardo Cabrera. “We have always sought to meet Voltalis’ needs to provide them with the flexibility and tools necessary for their activity.”

Voltalis, a market visionary in energy, anticipated the energy turning point as early as 2006. Mathieu Bineau, CEO of Voltalis, testifies:

“We are delighted with this partnership with Objenious, which has lasted over 15 years. It allows us to accelerate the deployment of our solution in French households, for energy sobriety and the security of our supply to all. It is a long-standing relationship of trust, and the goal is, in fact, to triple the number of SIM cards within 2 years”.
